On World Day of Social Justice (February 20), Foundation for Access to Rights (FAR) participated in a meeting dedicated to equal access to decent work and labor market integration. The event was organized by the Sofia Development Association and brought together representatives from the Sofia Municipality, the business sector, trade unions, and non-governmental organizations.

Maria Netsova, Coordinator of Activities and Labor Mediation, presented FAR’s experience in supporting refugees and migrants in their search for and attainment of employment.

Despite efforts at both local and national levels, discrimination based on age, gender, ethnicity, and origin continues to be a major obstacle for many people in Bulgaria. During the meeting, we outlined some of the key needs for successful integration:

Overcoming language and administrative barriers;

Ensuring awareness of labor rights;

Creating sustainable mechanisms for labor market inclusion.
