What is a criminal record certificate?

A criminal record certificate is an official document, which shows whether you have been convicted of a crime and if you are – what are the kind of crimes you have committed. 

If you never committed a crime in your life, in your certificate it will be noted that you have a clean criminal record. 

When do you need a criminal record certificate?

Most often, a criminal record is required when:

• You are applying for Bulgarian citizenship.

If you are an asylum-seeker, you can work 3 months after the date you submitted your application for international protection.

If you are a refugee or hold humanitarian status, you have the right to legally work in Bulgaria under the same conditions as Bulgarian citizens. Learn more:



Minimum wage in Bulgaria

Currently, in Bulgaria, if you work 40 hours a week:

  • The minimum gross wage is 610 leva a month, which amounts to €311
  • The minimum net wage is 473 leva a month, which amounts to €242

The minimum gross wages raises every year. For 2021 the  minimum wage will be 650 leva/€332
